This circa 1826 one room schoolhouse District #9 was originally located at the intersection of Beekman Road and the Taconic Parkway in Upper Hopewell. It was one of eleven schoolhouses that provided education to the children of East Fishkill. Eight grades were taught by one teacher. The schoolhouse was used up until 1956 at that location. The frame is post and beam construction and has a “king post” structure for supporting the ceiling. In 2003 the schoolhouse was completely dismantled, moved and rebuilt at its present site. In 2018, a duplicate of the original bell tower was added, and a bell originally located at the Fishkill Plains Union Church was installed.
